CLICS Exhibit - Winter Quarter 2005 |
Cross-Cultural Symbology of the Mandala Art Form
An Art Exhibit Featuring the Work of Elizabeth Zaikowski A thought-provoking art exhibit, Cross-Cultural Symbology of the Mandala Art Form, is on display at CLICS. The exhibit features the ancient mandala art form, its cross-cultural influences, and life-size mandalas created by artist, Elizabeth Zaikowski. To complement the exhibit, the Cross-Cultural Center will display additional mandalas and offer a Mandala Making Workshop lead by Zaikowski. If you've never experienced this powerful art form, please join us at one or both of these Winter Quarter events!
The mandala art form originated in India and is found in Tibetan, Mayan, Chinese, and Native American cultures among others. The Sanskrit word mandala means “circle” in its simplest translation. Mandalas often symbolize the micro within the macro and the process of creating a mandala is typically associated with spiritual growth or meditation. Visit CLICS and the Cross-Cultural Center throughout the quarter to view Elizabeth Zaikowski’s mandala art work and learn more about the art form. You can also view some of Zaikowski's art online.
