Main search menu wording will be changed to read: "Author & Words in Title Combined" and Kathy will get this change made. C. Innopac enhancements process. Local requests for OPAC enhancements may be sent to Kathy anytime throughout the year. The national III compilation of enhancement requests made in the spring. ISC will take up local priorities for enhancements at its January meeting. Kathy presented handouts on 4 local enhancements being forwarded to III: allow boolean operators in Innopac Web search limit operations; show "Expected" notes in Innopac Web serials receipt boxes; eliminate the year display from 260 field to avoid conflicting serials holding appearance (Innopac Web); display number of renewals left message in view your own record feature. D. MELVYL Web UCSD Circulation Status Display. Kathy reported that our circ status is now appearing in MELVYLWeb displays. However, it was pointed out that circ status problematically appears in any display format, however short, of saved lists. (Use "d no circ" to suppress circulation status.) Crystal noted that circ status does not appear on many older items lacking III numbers in MELVYL. Displays of multivolume set items can raise problems, too. E. SD Circuit. Kathy presented an update sheet reporting:
G. ISSAC and ISC. Susan Berteaux reported that she will be attending ISC for now in her new role as ISAAC coordinator. III. Discussion A. Meeting calendar. There will be no December 1997 meeting. 1998 meetings will generally be held 1-3 p.m. on the last Friday of each month. Because of conflicts on the usual days, special dates were established for the meetings in June (19th), and November (23rd). B. Selections for CD-ROM Network Alice took the question of how to handle selection and deselection for the CD-ROM network to PSAC and decision-making authority was granted to ISC. Elliot gave background on how the original process and the specific title selections were handled by the cluster CD-ROM "contacts." He reported that Terry Vrable in Acquisitions seeks to confirm CD subscription renewals with the CD sponsor. Kathy suggested, and the group adopted, a process whereby ISC would review CD network titles in August for renewal, deselection, selection, etc. Certainly, urgent decisions could be made anytime thoughout the year. On the specific titles up for decision now, the committee decided to deselect the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. The new Corptech CD will be trialed on the network now with Ruth as sponsor. Once the Corptech trial is over, the full Phonedisc set will be allocated sufficient space in the tower (6 slots). It will be renewed in its network license form but with fewer simultaneous users, keeping costs contstant. Finally, the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) will be considered by the units and feedback reported in January for a selection decision. IV. Reference Forums A. SD Circuit Forum. Sessions open to interested staff are scheduled for December 16 (9:30-11:00) and December 18 (2:30-4:00) in the S&E Library HP Room. Kathy, Nancy Beale, and Tammy Dearie will be the presenters. Vickie will issue an email announcing the sessions. B. CD Network Forum. Following a suggestion from Brad adopted by the committee, the Winter quarter Reference Forum will be on finding and using manuscript and archival resources. Brad and Deborah Day will instruct. The forum on the CD Network and its subject resources will be pushed back to Spring quarter. Another topic in planning is revisiting the forum on visitors. V. Agenda Building
